    Cyrus Ali, MD, FACS is a general surgeon with a broad range experience, including some advanced laparoscopic procedures. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

    Dr. Ali earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry with first class honors from McGill University.

    Caroline Arthur, MD specializes in a broad range of emergency and elective surgical conditions, including diseases of the colon, small intestines, gallbladder, and appendix. She has a special interest in both simple and complex hernias and has extensive experience with minimally invasive surgery. 

    Dr. Arthur also performs robotic surgery for hernias and some colon/small intestine issues, as well as emergent conditions such as gallbladder, ulcer, and intestinal diseases. Her robotic procedural expertise includes hernia repair, colectomy, small bowel resection, and cholecystectomy.

    Dr. Arthur is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Americas Hernia Society.

    Richard Ballantyne, DO has particular interest in advanced laparoscopic hernia and colon surgery as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He is skilled in the performance of da Vinci® robotic surgery for hernia, GERD; diverticulitis; colon cancer and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). His robotic procedural expertise includes inguinal and ventral hernia repair, hiatal hernia repair with fundoplication, partial colectomy, sigmoid colon resection, and splenectomy.

    Originally from the Treasure Valley, Dr. Ballantyne earned his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University. He is a member of the Idaho Medical Association and Ada County Medical Society.

    Biography

    Joshua G. Barton, MD is the medical director of St. Luke's Clinic – Center for Pancreatic and Liver Diseases and fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His specialty is the surgical treatment of pancreatic, biliary, liver, and stomach diseases as well as bariatric surgery including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. He also has extensive experience using the daVinci surgical robot. 

    Dr. Barton actively participates in several professional organizations, including the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Pancreas Club, and the American Hepato-Biliary Association.

    Dr. Barton is originally from Texas and was raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from the University of Texas – Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma. He obtained additional training in hepato-pancreato-biliary and advanced GI surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

    Kelly Carman, DO specializes in breast and general surgery. She completed her training in general, laparoscopic and robotic surgery at Geisinger Northeast and completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Her interests include women’s health, breast cancer care and prevention, as well as abdominal wall hernias, gallbladder disease, and gastrointestinal surgeries.

    Biography

    Robert Cavagnol, MD, MHA, FACS serves as president, St. Luke’s Clinic. His medical practice is currently focused on acute care surgery, and performs a breadth of surgical procedures including advanced laparoscopy, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, appendectomy, colon removal, and other urgent operations.

    Dr. Cavagnol is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has served as the president of the Southwest Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Prior to relocating to Boise, Dr. Cavagnol served for 12 years as a general surgeon in Springfield, Missouri and earned the Young Physician of the Year award with Mercy Health System. 

    Dr. Cavagnol spent three years the United States Navy as a general surgeon at Camp Lejeune. During that time he deployed on the USNS Comfort, a hospital ship which supported New Orleans as the city’s trauma center following Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Cavagnol also deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a trauma surgeon.

    Jonathan V. Giles, MD, FACS specializes in advanced laparoscopic, oncologic (cancer), hernia repair, and endocrine surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member and Fellow of the Southwest Surgical Congress.

    Dr. Giles earned his bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of California at Davis and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency and internship at the University of Utah and Affiliated Hospitals, and served three years of active duty as a U.S. Air Force surgeon with the 366th Wing Hospital, Mountain Home Air Force Base.

    Biography

    Thomas R. Huntington MD, FACS has practiced the art and science of surgery for over four decades and was a pioneer of laparoscopy in Idaho. He has mentored myriad local surgeons in laparoscopic surgery, and after a successful career as a rural surgeon, Dr. Huntington now specializes in laparoscopic foregut surgery, which is surgery of the esophagus and stomach. He has performed over 5,000 fundoplications in his prolific career, including giant paraesophageal hernias and revisional surgeries. His complex laparoscopic practice includes minimally invasive treatment of esophageal and gastric cancers, laparoscopic adrenalectomy, colon resection, and hernia repair.

    As a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, past president of the Idaho College of Surgeons, and active member of the Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy Surgeons (SAGES), Dr. Huntington continues to incorporate modern medical advances with decades of experiences. His patients value the personalized, respectful, and dedicated care that Dr. Huntington provides.

    Recently, Dr. Huntington has welcomed his daughter, surgeon Dr. Ciara Huntington to his private practice. Together, Drs. Huntington continue to provide southwest Idaho with compassionate and quality laparoscopic surgical care.

    Wilmer T. Jones, MD is chief of staff at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Clinical Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, and the Rocky Mountain Vascular Surgery Society.

    Prior to his medical education, Dr. Jones earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Military Institute, where he was valedictorian and a distinguished graduate. Later, he served 26 years in the Air Force as a pilot and surgeon, retiring at the rank of colonel.

    Additionally, Dr. Jones was president of the Texas Vascular Surgery Society and has held academic appointments at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio; and the United Services Health Science University.

    Kellan Kading, MD came to St. Luke's from Swedish Medical Center in Seattle where he was part of the General Surgery Residency Program.     Bruce C. McComas, MD, FACS is director of St. Luke’s Non-invasive Vascular Lab and has special interests in surgical oncology, thoracic and thyroid surgery, and venous disorders. He is active in training medical residents, physician assistant students, and nursing students. Dr. McComas performed his surgical residency at Quillen-Dishner College of Medicine, where he also served as assistant professor of surgery. He is a member of the American Cancer Society and Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons.

    Rhiana S. Menen, MD is a clinical and academic surgeon with experience and training in general and laparoscopic surgery. She also completed fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Menen has particular interest in cancer care, women's health, and cancer prevention. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. 

    Dr. Menen is also interested in international and medically underserved populations, and has done medical outreach trips to India and Kenya.

    Teisha Shiozaki, MD is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in advanced gastrointestinal (GI) and minimally invasive surgery. She treats a wide array of abdominal disorders, including gallbladder disease, inguinal and ventral hernias, and disease of the small bowel and colon.

    Dr. Shiozaki has special interest in robotic surgery and using minimally invasive techniques to improve surgical outcomes. She is skilled in the performance of robotic surgery for hernias, diverticulitis, and bowel obstructions. Her robotic procedural expertise includes cholecystectomy; colectomy; colostomy reversal; and inguinal, ventral and hiatal hernia repair.

Today, she performs robotic surgery to treat inguinal hernias, ventral hernias, colon disease, and gallbladder disease. Her robotic procedural expertise includes inguinal hernia repair, ventral hernia repair, colon resections, and cholecystectomy.

    Prior to her medical education, Dr. Stepp earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys traveling and being outdoors, and is also an avid Peloton enthusiast.

    Biography

    Reese A. Verner, MD, FACS specializes in general, laparoscopic, and oncologic (cancer) surgery. He also has expertise in robotic surgery for hernia repair.

    Dr. Verner served as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Medical Association, and Idaho Medical Association.
