St. Luke's Children's Ophthalmology: Boise

Healthy eyes and vision are vital to your child’s development. The team at St. Luke’s Children’s Ophthalmology specializes in the care of diseases and conditions of the eyes in infants, children, and adolescents, including strabismus, amblyopia, eye misalignment, cataracts, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, nystagmus, and retinopathy of prematurity.

National Study for Kids with Nearsightedness

Now Enrolling Children Ages 5 to 12 With Myopia

St. Luke’s Children’s Ophthalmology is part of a national study regarding an eye drop called low-dose atropine that has been shown to slow nearsightedness in children by 50%. The study is funded by the National Institutes of Health and is run by a national group of pediatric eye doctors.

We're currently enrolling children ages 5 to 12 with nearsightedness. Children will use low dose atropine, or an eye drop with no medicine in it, every day for two years. The study will measure changes in nearsightedness while taking the drop, and after it has been stopped.

Please call (208) 381-6912 with questions or for more information on enrolling your child.
