Like a lot of teenage boys, Grant loves watching football, and is a fan of all sports. He’s happy to be riding bikes with his family or cruising the halls of his high school in his power chair.
Grant was born prematurely, at just 29 weeks. And he was tiny, only two pounds, four ounces. His mom, Sara, had preeclampsia, then eclampsia—dangerous conditions that meant life or death for them both. Doctors were forced to deliver Grant early to save his and Sara’s lives.
Grant spent 75 days in the NICU and has had many serious health issues including cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and has spent many, many days in the hospital.
But he’s strong and determined, and he’s surrounded by love and support: his parents, his five siblings, and his community support worker (CSW) who helps Grant get around and works with him to set goals around socializing, activity and becoming more independent.
