When Bryce isn’t skiing or racing the 100 and 800 with his high school track team, he’s indulging his love of literature and languages, especially mythology, history, Latin and Spanish. He’s a bright, talented young man, and in most ways, a typical teen.
Bryce was born with spina bifida, a condition that affects his spinal column. He also had a stroke when he was just a toddler. Through many surgeries, treatments and doctor visits over more than 16 years, caregivers at St. Luke’s Children’s have gotten to know and admire Bryce and his family. He receives coordinated care from the Spina Bifida Clinic as well as a team that has included pediatric surgeons, gastroenterologists, neurologists, urologists, orthopedists and physical therapists.
Bryce doesn’t let his condition keep him from living his life. Now he has his driver’s permit, so it won’t be long before he’s shuttling his little sisters around and driving to church activities, scouting adventures and all the other things he enjoys.
