The motto for Dance Marathon at Boise State is simple: For the Kids. Now, in its eighth year, Dance Marathon has raised more than $1 million for the kids at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.

Buster Bronco and friends do what they can for the kids.

This year’s haul of $220,714.93 is the most to date. In 2013, the first year for Dance Marathon at Boise State, students raised $5,036.

“It’s hard to find words that express the amount of gratitude and appreciation we have for our Boise State Dance Marathon family,” said Maegan Krahn, manager of special events at St. Luke’s Health Foundation. “A million dollars raised is such an incredible milestone — these students work tirelessly for this cause, and for the kids at St. Luke’s Children’s. We’re deeply grateful for their continued support and enthusiasm, and we hope they’re exceptionally proud of their accomplishments.”

The final numbers are revealed on Feb. 29 at Dance Marathon at Boise State.

Highlights from this year’s event included BSU President Dr. Marlene Tromp dancing on stage with past Children’s Miracle Network Hospital champions and Buster Bronco busting moves in a tie-dye shirt.

There are more than 400 Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs across the United States and Canada. Student participants raise money throughout the year culminating in the marathon. Programs raised more than $44 million for CMN Hospitals in 2019. Indiana University held the first Dance Marathon in 1991 in memory of fellow student Ryan White.
