Student Services FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Click each question below for its answer:

How do I apply to job shadow to learn more about a career path or explore an area of interest?

To best serve our patients, their families and our staff, we do not allow career exploration observations or job shadowing at St. Luke’s.

Instead, we would advise you to personally interview a seasoned team member in the field of your interest. One of our staff will be able to provide you with a first-hand account of what their daily role is like. Student Services does not arrange these interviews, but we are happy to provide you with sample interview questions to help guide your conversation. To set up an interview of this nature, please reach out to your existing St. Luke’s connections to coordinate an interview or for help networking with others within the organization. At this time, Student Services is unable to assist with providing these connections. We ask that you conduct the interview over the phone or in a non-patient care setting to be in alignment with our patient privacy and PHI regulations and standards.

How can I schedule observational hours for a school assignment or class requirement?
If you are seeking observational hours related to a school assignment or class requirement and that is tied to obtaining course credit, then you would be considered a “student” rather than an observer. To qualify for a student experience, you must be enrolled with a school & program that has an affiliation agreement with St. Luke’s. Additionally, to be mindful of the amount of time and resources required by you as a student, your school, and our department, we do not allow for experiences under 20 hours. Please visit our For Students section to learn more about the programs and degrees we currently facilitate experiences for

How do I schedule observational hours needed for my application into post-baccalaureate or graduate program?

We are often able to support observational experiences for aspiring students who are applying to programs that observational hours such as Pre-Physical Therapy or Pre-Med. Due to high demand, these opportunities are limited. Please visit our For Observers section for additional information and next steps.

In order to keep your Epic/IT access active, you must change your password at least every 180 days. The easiest way to manage this is to enroll in password self-service. Additionally, IT access is closely tied to your rotation dates and locations. If you experience issues with your access, please contact our IHT Service Desk at 208-381-HELP (4357) for assistance.
