For fifty years, the Air St. Luke’s Maternal Child (MatCh) team has been an integral part of our care continuum at St. Luke’s. As the first and only dedicated neonatal, pediatric, and maternal transport team in the state of Idaho, they have been at the forefront of providing the best patient care for some of our most critical patients locally, regionally, and across many rural locations throughout the state.
Our MatCh team also transports patients out of state who require services at specialty centers. Awarded the 2019 Neonatal/Pediatric Award of Excellence by the Association of the Air Medical Services for the high-quality critical care they provide, the MatCh team is an essential component of our Air St Luke’s medical program. The team is comprised of six maternal child nurses and six respiratory therapists, and transports about 500 patients every year, many from remote, isolated communities.
In order to continue providing the highest level of care to everyone who needs it, the MatCh team needs a new ambulance. This upgraded ambulance will be customized to accommodate the exact needs of our team, including four-wheel drive for safer winter travel, two gurneys, a gurney-mounted isolette, and a transport ventilator. This essential equipment will improve our ability to protect and care for patients in transport.
